Convention Emergence and Influence in Dynamic Topologies

چکیده
Coordination is essential to the effective operation of multiagent systems. Convention emergence offers a low-cost and decentralised method of ensuring compatible actions and behaviour, without requiring the imposition of rules dictating such. In this paper, we explore the emergence of conventions within a dynamic network, and examine the effectiveness of fixed strategy agents in this context. We consider the importance of the dynamic nature of the system and introduce a novel heuristic, Life-Degree, to explore this.

Convention Emergence in Partially Observable Topologies
In multi-agent systems it is often desirable for agents to adhere to standards of behaviour that minimise clashes and wasting of (limited) resources. In situations where it is not possible or desirable to dictate these standards globally or via centralised control, convention emergence offers a lightweight and rapid alternative. Placing fixed strategy agents within a population, whose interacti...

Social conventions are useful self-sustaining protocols for groups to coordinate behavior without a centralized entity enforcing coordination. The emergence of such conventions in different multi agent network topologies has been investigated by several researchers, although exploring only specific cases of the convention emergence process. In this work we will provide multi-dimensional analysi...

Social conventions are useful self-sustaining protocols for groups to coordinate behavior without a centralized entity enforcing coordination. The emergence of such conventions in different multi agent network topologies has been investigated by several researches. Although we will perform an exhaustive study of different network structures, we are concerned that different topologies will affec...
متن کاملThe Effects of Trust on Convention Emergence
In this paper, we consider the effects of trust and conventions on the evolution of a multi-agent system. To do so, we provide a simulation in which agents are able to use a trust mechanism to select interaction partners, and a learning mechanism that leads to convention emergence. We examine the impacts on the system of: different network topologies; the presence or absence of malicious agents...
